Tuesday April 5th, 2011 01:08 Under Cover of Darkness – The Strokes

Dudes, I can’t get this song out of my head. It’s been on my mind for weeks. It’s like the ultimate pop song to me. It’s got everything I like. Even that quassy breakdown is cool.

Just want to let you know that this whole album is great. Haven’t heard new stuff from them in a long while and glad that when it did come out that it rocks! The Strokes have always been one of those peripheral bands that I don’t pay too much attention to, but when I do listen to them I get really pumped.

Wednesday February 9th, 2011 15:00 the screamin yeehaws

I got a facebook friend request yesterday and all of the sudden my mind kicked into drunken memories of dive bars, chicken wings and lots of beer. Martin Robles use to play for a hard core band called The Wastrels, now he’s the drummer for The Screamin’ Yeehaws. Enjoy.

Thursday November 5th, 2009 10:39 i remember when punk rock gave me the voice i never had…

The other day I was going though a 90′s throwback to all the music I use to listen to. I played some NOFX, MxPx, Lagwagon, Blink (182), and then I stumbled on something I hadn’t listen to in awhile. Horace Pinker.

Horace Pinker was one of those bands I really embraced and didn’t share with anyone else when I was a kid. I bought their 7-inch that they did with Face to Face. I really liked their “drive-y” rifs and pop-punk vocals. It was really gritty to me at the time. Low budget recordings are some of my favorite. Something about the raw, crappy sound that makes it feel so more authentic and bad ass. I ended up buying more EPs and a full length. When I went to Art School I realized that they were residing in Arizona. I was stoked to think I would have a chance to see these guys live, but I never did unfortunately. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I saw a guy on the L with a Horace Pinker t-shirt that I wanted to try and look them up. It turned out that few of the band members decided to move to Chicago. Again, I thought this was awesome and I would maybe have a chance to see them play and again it never happened.

I guess this post is to rid of my selfish, child inside and share this bad ass band with everyone else.  Maybe they will come to the east coast and maybe then I’ll get to rock out to some great music.
