There are not so many movies out there that tickle my fancy as much as Brazil has. This movie has it all for me…british humor, science fiction, great music, and the tale of man vs. the system. I had watched this movie for the first time about 10 years ago. I’d always been interested in the cover that had the dude’s head exploding like a nuke. Now that I saw HBO was playing it in HD I had to instantly record it and watch it again.

Sam Lowry is a harried technocrat in a futuristic society that is needlessly convoluted and inefficient. He dreams of a life where he can fly away from technology and overpowering bureaucracy, and spend eternity with the woman of his dreams. While trying to rectify the wrongful arrest of one Harry Buttle, Lowry meets the woman he is always chasing in his dreams, Jill Layton. Meanwhile, the bureaucracy has fingered him responsible for a rash of terrorist bombings, and both Sam and Jill’s lives are put in danger. – IMDB

This movie really holds up really well as far as production values. The humor and story are still relevant. I highly recommend this movie.

Wednesday June 18th, 2008 14:23 dewey can suck my cox

This movie is just terrible. I happen to like John C Reilly, I think he’s a funny guy. He was at his best in Boogie Nights. But this movie is beyond terrible. It has only a couple of running jokes in it and it got stale really quick. How did this movie get made, really!?!?! Maybe if I was piss drunk maybe I would think it was funny. But I wasn’t. What a waste.

Monday June 16th, 2008 10:12 hulk smash!

Edward Norton as Bruce Banner

Just saw The Incredible Hulk. I thought it was an outstanding movie. You get the action, drama, and Lou Farrigno in this movie. What’s not to like here? I watch the King of Queens and get my little dosage of Lou on that show. But, I must say, every time I see him I chuckle a little bit to myself. I love the guy. He’s Lou ‘Friggen’ Farrigno!

There is one thing that bothered me throughout the whole movie, Bruce Banner’s hats. I know it was a necessity for him to wear a hat and look like he’s avoiding to be seen, but man, the choices of hats that he wore were terrible. And, it wasnt like he wore one hat through the whole movie. He had like six diffrent hats that didnt fit him at all. His head looked too skinny in all of them and the sides of the hat just poofed out like it didnt fit. This is a big budget movie with stylists and shit. Can’t they find the guy a few hats that fit him well? It didnt take away from the movie at all, it was just something I noticed.

So great to hear and see a “HULK SMASH!!!”
